Registering for a new domain

I’ve finally choosed the first in the list: GoDaddy. Not without visiting the challengers: Register, NetworkSolutions and NamesDirect.

I’ve choosed to register for .com and .mobi for 2 years (till June 30th, 2010), see checkout form below:

How do domain names work

I like the 2 first yellow pages "Cheat Sheet" containing easy access information and useful URL.

I've skipped Part II "Using WordPress Hosted Service", I'll go back later for blog design purpose.

The interesting things starts with Part III "Self-Hosting with WordPress.org". Chapter 6 "Setting Up Blogging Camp" is a must-read . It contains useful information for :
- domain regiteration
- web services hosting
- required PHP and MySql versions to install WP.

The informations contained are explained at a beginner level (for dummies):
- what is FTP
- bandwith explaination
- disk storage
